Scolecite is a white Zeolite crystal that is related to the Natrolite and Mesolite minerals. It forms a series of these two minerals resulting in the calcium-rich form of Zeolite. Some crystals may even have both Soclecite and Natrolite in them together, alternating between the two minerals only to be distinguished through chemical or optical analysis.
Scolecite can be found in both acicular and radial clusters with a few to several distinguishable slender crystals either tightly grouped together or sometimes slightly separated.
The Scolecite crystals are somewhat soft crystals with a hardness of 5 – 5.5 Mohs, but they are very brittle and can easily break if not handled with care.
